[Special note on author visits in the era of COVID-19: I am happy to book author visit reservations for the upcoming school year with the option for educators to choose later whether they will be virtual or, if it’s safe enough then to do so, upgrade to an in-person visit.]
I’m excited to offer classroom and library visits! In my author talks I usually read a short excerpt from one of my books and then open to questions from students. Depending on what they’re most interested in, we might chat about the business side of being an author, the mental health rep in my books, writing advice, or my recent favorite reads (warning! I have a LOT of favorite reads).
My presentations are suitable for middle- and high-schoolers. I also offer virtual visits via Skype.
Naomi Hughes writes YA sci-fi and fantasy novels, many of which feature mental health themes such as OCD, panic disorder, and anxiety. Her books have earned starred reviews and state honors. Naomi has also been a successful freelance editor for nearly a decade, working on over a thousand projects for her clients and earning testimonials from authors like Tomi Adeyemi, the #1 NYT and internationally bestselling YA author, and Casey Lyall, whose Howard Wallace, P.I. series was recently optioned for TV. Naomi has also been a four-time mentor for Pitch Wars, the well-known online writing/mentoring contest that teams up experienced authors with aspiring writers to help them hone their stories.
Naomi grew up all over the U.S. before finally settling in the Midwest, a place she loves even though it tries to murder her with tornadoes and blizzards. In her free time she likes to travel with her husband and daughter and geek out over British TV and Marvel superheroes.

If you have any questions or would like to book a visit for your school, please contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Also, if these visits aren’t within your school’s budget, please feel free to get in touch and see if we can work something out! I’m sometimes able to be flexible with my rates, particularly if I’m already in the area or visiting another nearby school.
